Rose hips oil: The wisdom of nature in skincare

rose hip

The rose hip is the fruit of wild roses (Rosa canina), traditionally known for its beneficial properties for skincare.

The wild rose is a wild bush often encountered in the countryside. Yet, we don’t really notice it before winter, when its red fruit ripens. It is a true indigenous treasure of Greek flora with wonderful properties and provides holistic skin care thanks to the wealth of its beneficial ingredients.

Rose Hips oil and Vitamins

Rose hips are the best natural source of vitamin C, since they contain 50% more vitamin C than oranges! They are also rich in vitamins A, D and E. Therefore, rose hips are rightly considered an excellent source of ingredients for mature skin care. Their contribution does wonders for smoothing out fine lines and caring for complexion discolouration.

Besides, nature has endowed rose hips with numerous beneficial ingredients. The precious rose hip oil contains high concentrations of flavonoid antioxidants and trace elements. It is also rich in necessary fatty and omega-fatty acids, such as linoleic and linolenic acids, known for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-allergic properties.

All these active agents contained in rose hip oil mobilize skin fibroblast and activate collagen production. In other words, they induce skin activation and prove that they are a natural source of excellent emollient, moisturizing, healing and anti-ageing properties. Indeed, rose hip oil has often been characterized as a natural substitute of retinol.

Another extraordinary property of rose hip oil is that it creates a protective coating for the skin. This helps cell regeneration and improves skin texture.

It is worth noting that rose hip oil is an excellent antioxidant, since it plays a significant role in preventing cellular oxidation caused by environmental stress and exposure to solar radiation! It also helps reduce free radicals, which cause the breakdown of collagen and elastin. This is one more significant action of rose hips, since the loss of such proteins leads to the creation of wrinkles and reduces skin elasticity.
