Kids, Adults, Suncreen protection & oceans

Questions about sun protection for kids and adults?

Which is the difference between SPF 30 and SPF 50?

Experts suggest using a sunscreen with SPF at least 30. This does not mean however, that a sunscreen with an almost double protection index, e.g. SPF 50+, is twice as protective.

The use of sunscreen with an SPF 50+ index offers a mere 1% higher protection compared to an SPF 30 product, while it ‘burdens’ your skin with additional sun screening filters.

Should I use sunscreen all year long?

Yes! Especially in a country like Greece with many days of sunshine, sunscreen is recommended for the whole year! You should know that UVB radiation is reduced by clouds and cold weather, but that is not happening with UVA radiation.

Studies has shown that daily use of a photosensitive broad-spectrum sunscreen can reverse the signs of existing photoaging!

Is your sunscreen killing the oceans?

Studies have shown that sunscreen chemicals pass into the blood and breast milk after one day of use. These substances have been linked to hormonal disorders, allergies, reduced testosterone in male teenagers and adverse effects on sea life.
After sampling the shores during summer, scientists have found that the chemicals in the sunscreen, specifically oxybenzene and octinoxate, were in high levels in the marine environment.
The sunscreen filters we have chosen do not belong to the endocrine disruptors and do not adversely affect the marine ecosystem.
